Our healthcare team are specialists in the Goeckerman therapy, which uses a combination of a non-steroid topical and UVB light in a specific way to generate a potent therapeutic effect. We make this safe, effective therapy available to you at home.
What is the Goeckerman therapy?
Goeckerman therapy, originally developed in 1925, consists of coal tar applications and calibrated UVB light exposure. It has proven to be highly effective for the treatment of psoriasis and eczema. The therapy has been used successfully in cases of treatment-resistant psoriasis or eczema and in patients who have contraindications to systemic medications. Goeckerman therapy has traditionally been administered as an inpatient or formal outpatient treatment program, requiring patients to either live nearby or travel regularly to a treatment center.
If this is so great, why haven’t I heard of this?
Traditionally, the Goeckerman therapy was a messy, time-consuming, cumbersome in-patient treatment, which is why it fell out of favor for more convenient drugs. Even today, the treatment requires patients to come into a clinic for 4-6 hours a day for an average of 6 weeks. That is a nonstarter for most people. A clinic that offers Goeckerman is also difficult to find. It is currently available in only three clinics in the United States, making the treatment inaccessible for many people.
This is why we made Solay.
